Updated 11.9.2013 Tournament regulations
1. The tournament will be played according to FIDE rules of chess. The playing time is 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move 1. 2. Each team will consist of four players and possibly one reserve player. The order of the players within a team, including the reserve, is fixed and must be followed. 3. The order of the matches will be decided by drawing of lots during the opening ceremony. However, the two teams from Finland will meet on the first round. 4. When a team contains a reserve player, the playing persons for each round must be named 45 minutes before the beginning of the round. 5. In case of a long game in round 1 or 3 (a morning round), the beginning of the following afternoon round may have to be delayed to allow a 45-minute break between rounds for all teams. 6. If a player arrives at his/her board more that 15 minutes late from the beginning of the session, the opponent has the right to claim the win of the game. 7. The final order of the teams is decided by (1) game points, (2) match points and (3) result of the match between tied teams. If the winning team is still undecided, the Nordic Championship will be divided between the tied teams. 8. Any noise caused by a phone leads to the loss of the player’s game. It is suggested, that phones be left outside the tournament hall, in the possession of the team captain or accompanying parents during the games. 9. The tournament will be directed by Panu Laine, and international arbiter Jouni Lehtivaara will supervise it. The decisions of the arbiter are final. 10. The tournament personnel may ask all the accompanying persons to stay outside the tournament hall, if that is deemed necessary. Also, the players whose games have ended may be asked to leave the tournament hall. The captain of each team is allowed to stay in the tournament hall, but his/her communication with the players must be very limited (acceptance/suggestion of a draw). 11. The tournament will be reported to FIDE for player rating. Therefore, all the participating players must be registered to FIDE by the player’s federation before the tournament can be reported.
